The current Prosecco di Conegliano e Valdobbiadine DOC zone will become a DOCG from the 2009 vintage onwards.
Prosecco to become DOCG
That sounds great. DOCG. Wow. It sounds great on paper but the requirements to keep DOCG qualifications do not guarantee quality in anyway. It is great legal stuff for Italians (love this stuff) and fights some corruption but means nothing really unless you want to believe it does.
